Triangle Tech Graduate Recognized as a Contributor for ASHRAE

Kyle E. Koval
Kyle E. Koval, a certified HVAC design engineer at East Hills Engineering Associates, LLC in Windber, has been recognized as a contributor to the certification study guide for the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, aka ASHRAE.

The 104-page electronic study guide is ASHRAE’s publication of the month. The guide is designed to provide best practices on the knowledge, skills and abilities that are important to HVAC design job tasks and to help engineers pass the HVAC designer certification, or CHD, exam.

Koval was one of 23 people from six countries who successfully enrolled in the first class of CHD certification recipients. He is also a member of ASHRAE’s CHD exam subcommittee, which has developed a new CHD exam form that is due to launch this spring.

“HVAC Design is what I do,” he said. “It’s what ASHRAE does. Earning the CHD certification not only is a point of pride, but it also validates my level of specialized knowledge and ability.”

Koval is a 2010 graduate of Triangle Tech Institute in Greensburg, where he earned an associate’s in architectural computer aided drafting and design with high honors and was the class valedictorian. He joined East Hills Engineering shortly after graduation. He has an integral role in the design of a wide range of HVAC systems and has extensive knowledge of the current and previous International Building Code and ASHRAE standards.

ASHRAE, founded in 1894, focuses on building systems, energy efficiency and indoor air quality, while being dedicated to advancing the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world.

East Hills Engineering, founded in 1984, creates high performing, cost appropriate and clearly illustrated engineering solutions. The firm is led by Brett N. Yonish and Christopher G. Albright and specializes in commercial and residential HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire protection system design. The firm holds professional engineering licenses in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina and carries ASHRAE, ASPE and LEED certifications.
